The biogas plant is located in the Jastrzębie-Zdrój, within the Silesian Voivodeship, at a municipal landfill site. The current installed capacity of the facility amounts to 3 MW.
Biogas is recovered from the organic waste mass deposited at the landfill through a gas collection system comprising extraction wells, gas headers, collection stations, condensate traps and a blower system.
The biogas treatment process uses advanced technology based on a gas dryer (chiller) and activated carbon filters. The gas is first routed to the chiller, where its temperature is reduced and moisture is removed, and subsequently passed through filters that eliminate contaminants such as hydrogen sulfide and volatile organic compounds.
Improved biogas quality results in more stable operation of the generation units, reduced oil consumption and a lower frequency of technical inspections. As a result, operating costs are reduced and the environmental impact of the installation is minimized.
