Kamieńsk (Kąsie)

Type: Landfill gas biogas plant
Location: Ruszczyn, Łódź Voivodeship — Municipality of Kamieńsk
Installed capacity: 1.6 MW

The biogas plant in Kamieńsk is a modern installation located at a landfill site in Ruszczyn. The facility has undergone modernization, including an increase in installed capacity and the adaptation of its grid connection.

Electricity is currently generated by two power generation units:

  • Jenbacher J320 with a capacity of 999 kW, in operation since 2020
  • Jenbacher J312 with a capacity of 650 kW, commissioned in 2021

Biogas is recovered from organic waste deposited at the landfill through an extensive gas collection system comprising gas extraction wells, gas headers, collection stations, condensate traps and a blower system extracting biogas from the landfill body.

During operation, we apply advanced biogas treatment technology, including drying in a chiller and filtration using activated carbon. Before being used as fuel, the biogas is first cooled and dried, and then purified to remove contaminants such as hydrogen sulfide and volatile organic compounds.

Effective biogas treatment results in higher gas quality, which translates into more stable engine operation, reduced oil consumption, fewer maintenance shutdowns and lower operating costs. This solution also contributes to minimizing the environmental impact of the installation.
